SOIS has a large, diverse, international faculty that is among the top ten LIS programs in the country for research productivity, a thriving Center for Information Policy Research, and interdisciplinary initiatives with numerous institutions in the United States and abroad. With more than 25 full-time faculty and teaching academic staff and more than 700 students, SOIS offers several educational programs: a Bachelor of Science in Information Resources, an ALA-accredited MLIS (which may be coordinated with other master’s programs in Anthropology, English, Foreign Language, Geography, Health Care Informatics, History, Literature, Music, and Urban Studies), a Certificate of Advanced Study in Archives and Records Administration, a multidisciplinary doctorate, and effective in the Fall of 2008, a Ph.D. in Information Studies. The SOIS instructional and research programs are designed to be a resourceful blending of the University’s mission combined with the School’s information focus, international scope, and interdisciplinary mindset.
